Every strain has a story.
Peanut Butter Apricot is no exception—it’s a product of both careful cultivation and a bit of serendipity. Bred from Purple Apricot (Purple Punch x Orange Apricot) and Peanut Butter Breath (Do-Si-Dos x Mendo Breath), this sativa-dominant hybrid is the result of a collaborative effort, between Lucky Elk and Staefli Farms, to discover unique, flavorful phenotypes that stand apart from the crowd.
Keith, the master breeder at Staefli Farms, has spent over a decade perfecting his craft, and Peanut Butter Apricot was born out of a particularly exciting season. Staefli is known for growing thousands of seeds each year, but in the field, one plant caught Keith’s attention early on. It wasn’t just the dark purple buds glistening in the sun or the vibrant orange hairs that stood out—it was the aroma. “It smelled like someone mixed peanut butter with a jar of apricot jam,” Keith recalls with a smile.
Keith spent weeks testing and tasting potential phenotypes, but he kept coming back to that one special plant. The sweet, apricot-forward aroma, mixed with the pungent gassy undertones, wasn’t something he could shake. It wasn’t until one afternoon, when he rolled up a sample and took the first hit, that he knew it was a keeper. "It had that perfect balance—sweet, fruity on the inhale, but with a savory, almost doughy finish on the exhale," Keith says. That was the moment he knew this strain was special.
But it wasn’t just the flavor. Keith was also drawn to the energizing and uplifting effects the strain delivered. Unlike other phenotypes that might be overwhelming or too sedative, Peanut Butter Apricot offered a bright, motivating buzz with just enough body relaxation to keep things balanced. "It was like a shot of creativity without feeling wired," Keith says.

Meet the Breeder
Staefli Farms, located in Southern Oregon, is a small-scale operation with a deep commitment to regenerative agriculture and organic growing practices. Their farming approach is rooted in permaculture systems that aim to create closed-loop ecosystems, meaning they grow their own nutrients on-site and utilize living soil to cultivate high-quality cannabis. Their master breeder, Keith, has been working on perfecting unique genetic strains for over a decade, developing cultivars that stand out for both terpene richness and potency
Many of the strains bred at Staefli Farms, such as Breadstix and Garlicot, are prized for their unique flavor profiles and ability to produce high-quality hash. The farm focuses on phenotypes that yield exceptional results when freshly frozen and pressed into live hash rosin.
The farm’s approach to breeding is meticulous, making use of biologically diverse soils to enhance plant vitality and cannabinoid profiles.
