In solventless hash, not all melt is created equal. Hash is often graded on a 6-star scale to indicate purity, meltability, and how it should be consumed.

6-Star hash is known as full melt. It contains only mature trichome heads, with no plant contaminants, and melts completely into oil when dabbed—leaving little to no residue. This is the gold standard for rosin production and connoisseur dabs.

5-Star hash is also dab-friendly, though it may leave a bit of residue. It’s often pressed into high-quality live rosin.

4-Star hash doesn’t melt cleanly. It contains more trichome stalks or fine plant matter and is best suited for joints, bowls, or infused pre-rolls.

3-Star hash won’t bubble much and tends to burn rather than melt. It’s not made for dabbing, but it’s great for sprinkling on flower or making edibles.

1- to 2-Star hash is food-grade. This material is typically made from trim or lower-quality washes and is best used for infusions, tinctures, or topicals.
